Incorporating anecdotes from biology, ecology, and cultural anthropology, I will share my adventures in insect photography in the hopes of inspiring you to pick up your camera and look at insects with a new lens.

One of my favorite nature photographers is Nick Brandt, who published the lush compilation of black-and-white odes to African animals called On This Earth. When I heard that Nick Brandt would be the juror at the Center for Fine Art Photography’s Art in Nature exhibit, I jumped at the chance to have him review my work. I was twitterpated when he chose my photograph of a Hawaiian Anolis to be included in the exhibit, on display from October 21st through November 26th, 2011 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Please join me this weekend at Filoli Gardens in Woodside, California, for a group photo exhibit on Bay Area Wildlife. The exhibit will be on display from September 14th through October 24th, 2010, and is a fine excuse for wandering the manicured grounds of this English-style garden.
